Overview

SpongeBob SquarePants is the protagonist of the series. SpongeBob is a rather childish sponge who enjoys many childish things like blowing bubbles and catching jellyfish. He get's up to many bizarre things with his imbecile of a best friend, the loveable Patrick Star.

His occupation is being a Fry Cook at the Krusty Krab, which he is somewhat surprisingly good at. He lives next to Squidward Tentacles in Bikini Bottom, his house is a Pineapple shape. He lives with his pet snail Gary, one of his most precious possessions.

He has a couple of interests. His biggest has to be bubble blowing, which the show staples as one of the biggest "kiddy things" to do. He's very good at this, able to manipulate the bubbles into anything he likes. In one episode, he makes a bubble man who's even capable of talking. Next is jellyfishing, a popular sport in Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob often partakes in the pass time to milk jellyfish for jelly, though his main goal is to catch the elusive blue jellyfish. His final interest is karate, which he is a total klutz at. He messes it up constantly and is quickly shown up by his blackbelt friend Sandy Cheeks. This doesn't stop him having fun with it though!

SpongeBob loves making friends. This is easy to see in the cartoon, being friends with every single character. He even shares moments of a bond with Squidward, though given his attitude this is a rarity. Losing a friendship deeply hurts SpongeBob and he'd do anything to fix it, and anything to make them happier when it's great. No one is close than Patrick, though, who is very much a brother to him.

Appearance

His general appearance is very stereotypical of a sponge, a rectangular prism coloured yellow. He wears black shoes (shoes being an uncommon sight in Bikini Bottom), white socks, brown shorts, black belt, a white shirt, and a red tie. His eyelashes are somewhat feminine while his teeth are very much like that of a beaver. Also, in similar fashion to Patrick he is always happy and smiling.
